Shout Out to Andersen Crew!
My crew students are absolutely amazing! They have worked diligently to make our classroom and school a better place. Ask them to share what they are doing to spread kindness within our pod.

Homework Matters!

Weekly Update for October 7-11

Reading groups began this week. Most students work in small groups, however some students have the opportunity to work on their own or with a partner. During reading we focus on fluency practice, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension. Our comprehension focus for this week was main idea or main character.

Language Arts

After noticing a high need for instruction in mindfulness we have put our rock paper on the back burner for now. This week we discussed the effects that take place in our brain when we think negatively. We discussed how our actions are reflected by our emotions and that anger is a sign of another emotion deep inside. We also practiced a breathing exercise that students can do if they need to take a break. Each day students reflected on these strategies and how they could apply them when feeling stressed.

This week we continued to work on the rock cycle process. We also spent time in preparation for our mega crew and spreading kindness within our pod.
